5K Run/Walk for Cancer

St. Mary Mercy Hospital invites you to be a part of our 6th Annual 5K for Cancer on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

Why are we having this event?
The 5K run/walk is for cancer awareness. It is a celebration of life for cancer survivors, for those who have cancer, and an opportunity for family members and friends to participate to honor or remember a loved one. Proceeds support Cancer Services at St. Mary Mercy Hospital, including transportation for patients traveling to and from the hospital for treatments and necessary products and services from the Helen Palmer Image Recovery Center. Last year, the 5K raised nearly $24,000.

We are deeply committed to serving this community, as well as the community members of tomorrow — you, your children, and their children - in an environment of comprehensive, coordinated, and compassionate care. We hope you will join us in this commitment.

Registration & T-shirts
Visit www.active.com to register online or print a registration form to mail in.
$22 for runners/walkers who register on or before Aug. 31; race T-shirt guaranteed.
$27 for those who register after Aug. 31; T-shirts provided as supplies last.

Packet Pick-Up
Packet pick-up for pre-registered runners/walkers is on Friday, Sept. 7, from
12 p.m. – 7 p.m. near the Our Lady of Hope Cancer Center at St. Mary Mercy.
Use the hospital’s South Lobby entrance.

Race-Day Registration
We encourage you to register early, however, registration for all runners/walkers on race day (Sun., Sept. 9) will be from 7 – 8:30 a.m., at the race site on St. Mary Mercy Hospital grounds.

Chip Timing
For accurate timing and ease of use, we will be using B-tag race bib chip timing.

Awards
Awards will be given to the first, second and third place overall male and female
winners of each age division of the 5K Run. Age brackets are 13 & under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.

Drawing
All runners and walkers are automatically entered into our post-race drawing for great prizes!

The Course
The USATF-certified 5K run/walk course begins on St. Mary Mercy grounds as runners and walkers are routed through the residential streets of Livonia. Click here for a printable map.

Volunteering
Calling all helping hands! If you’re interested in race day registration, packet pickup, passing out water, directing runners along the route and other activities, call Kevin Moore at 734-655-2419. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt. Help make our sixth annual 5K run/walk the best it can be!
