The state of a patient's condition varies constantly, and the physician must be able to monitor it closely. Often, the collection of blood or other body fluids on a regular basis provides the physician with essential diagnostic information. At St. Mary Mercy Hospital, the laboratory is staffed by medical technologists performing blood and body fluid tests in a fast, efficient manner. High-tech laboratory equipment, such as the Dimension Analyzer located in the Chemistry section, provides the advanced technology necessary for efficient test processing.
The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Services provides a full range of anatomic and clinical tests and services for patients at St. Mary Mercy Hospital and the community. Pathology services are available 24 hours with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. The high-tech Laboratory includes Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Hematology, Pathology, Immunology, Urinalysis and Phlebotomy; a Patient Service Center and an Outreach Program serving the lab needs of physicians in their own medical offices is also available.
