Casey Sager, MD - House Officer 4
Email: SagerC@trinity-health.org

Casey was born in Rogers City, a one-stoplight town located in northern Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron. Wanting to become a doctor since the second grade, Casey prepared for medical school and completed her undergraduate degrees at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. Upon graduation from NMU, Casey moved to Baltimore, MD to work in a research laboratory in the Otolaryngology Department at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In 2006, Casey moved back to Michigan and started medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Casey continued west to Grand Rapids for her clinical years, where she explored her options for residency and realized she loved Ob/Gyn. She married her supportive and wonderful husband, Steve, during the fall of her final year of med school. The couple has a chocolate lab named Chewie, who makes them laugh on a daily basis. Casey enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially outdoors. From camping to fishing, snowshoeing to swimming, Casey loves to be outside and active. She also likes cooking, baking, traveling, playing sports, and the occasional movie on the couch.

Sarah Sprengeler, MD - House Officer 4
Email: SprengeS@trinity-health.org

Sarah is from Minnesota, land of hot dish, lakes, and the Great Minnesota State Fair. She loves her family, swimming in lakes, and the fourth of July. She met her husband, Michael, in marching band in high school and they were married after college. She went to medical school at the University of Minnesota and graduated in 2007. Next, it was on to a residency in Family Medicine for two years.

Somewhere in the middle of that, she met her other love in life, Obstetrics and Gynecology. A sort-of-drastic switch in residency programs was made, and Sarah was off to Ann Arbor, land of the “Other” U of M, hotter summers, and shorter winters. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys playing with her kids, cooking, and gardening. She especially loves living in a zone 5B where the tomatoes can grow to eight feet tall and Blue Hydrangeas can survive the winter! Michael is a pharmacist by trade, but is currently a (very appreciated) stay-at-home dad, and is loving it. They have four children who keep their parents on their toes. The Sprengelers are enjoying their time in Ann Arbor, but hope to not let the warm, short winters spoil them as they plan a return to Minnesota when Residency is done.

Katie Zdadra, MD – House Officer 3
Email: treuhafk@trinity-health.org

Katie was born and raised in Toledo, OH. Her interest in medicine started during her high school anatomy class, and she took pre-medicine classes in college at the Ohio State University, where she majored in Psychology. She continued on to attend medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine. She was active in several clubs during medical school, including volunteering at a clinic for uninsured patients and singing in the school’s cappella group, Vocal Remedy.

During her clinical rotations, she fell in love with Obstetrics and Gynecology and decided to pursuer it as a career. After a rotation in OB-GYN at St. Joe’s during her 4th year, she knew this was the place for her! She enjoys reading, cooking, golfing, walking in the park, and trying new restaurants. In the summer, she enjoys spending time at her family’s cottage, where she loves to water-ski and go on boat rides. She met her husband, Brian during medical school and now lives with him and his two Weimaraners, Smokey and Zaida.

Joses Jain, MD – House Officer 3
Email: jainja@trinity-health.org

Joses is from Vancouver, British Columbia, a modern city surrounded by picturesque mountain ranges on one side, and west coast beaches on the other. He grew up enjoying the natural splendor around him, spending his time hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, and scuba diving. Joses earned a BSc in Biology at the University of British Columbia before attending St. George’s University School of Medicine. It was here that he developed his passion for OB/GYN, and also where he met his fiancé Natasha, a native Michiganian (or perhaps Michigander?).

Though far from where he grew up, coming to Michigan is its own “coming home” of sorts; Joses’ grandfather, the first of his family to immigrate to the United States, settled in Ann Arbor, and Joses has spent many summers here ever since he was a toddler. He is excited to start a new chapter in life, back where it all began! In his spare time, he enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, ambushing friends on x-box 360, doing crosswords with his wife, and playing outside. Despite the annual disappointment, he remains a devoted Canucks fan.

Kristin Streifel, MD – House Officer 3
Email: streifek@trinity-health.org

Kristin Streifel was born and raised in a small town in the grassy rolling hills of North Dakota. She and her younger sister spent much of their childhood playing with their dolls and pretending to be a doctor and a nurse with their toy stethoscope and reflex hammer. In elementary school she discovered her love for science and music. She joined the school band and chorus and spent many hours practicing piano, flute and vocal solos for various competitions. During this time her father suffered a heart attack and Kristin had her first experience with medical professionals as they saver her father's life. It was then she first thought about being a physician, but was unsure if she wanted to give up music.

Kristin attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where she continued to study music and biology before deciding a career in medicine was her true passion. She wanted to stay close to family and friends and attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND where she received her M.D. Throughout her years in medical school she participated in community service actives and was a mentor for teenage youth. She also served in leadership positions with the American Medical Women’s Association and Women's Health Conference.

Kristin is excited to be at St. Joseph Mercy where she can serve women as their physician. Kristin and her husband live in Ann Arbor where they enjoy cooking, hiking and traveling. When time allows, Kristin enjoys playing piano and scrapbooking. Together, they hope to explore the state during the next few years and see the Great Lakes, Niagara Falls and the Upper Peninsula.

Risa Curtis, DO – House Officer 2
Email: curtisr@trinity-health.org

Risa was born and raised in Austin, Texas, where she grew up in the country on a small farm and spent summers working at her parent's dog and cat boarding kennel. In the fifth grade, she and her family set sail, living on a sailboat for almost two years before returning to the same home. She attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, not far from her Austin home, for her undergraduate degree in Biology. From there she moved to Forth Worth, where Risa attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center to obtain a Masters Degree in Medical Science. She went on to graduate from the UNTHSC Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Risa has been interested in pregnancy and birth since she can remember. She has a humble background and an open mind, appreciates the great and the small, and hopes to have a spot in this world to accomplish both. She's enjoying raising her new baby girl, Alani, and looks forward to a new chapter in their lives here in Ann Arbor!

Danielle was born and raised in a small town in central Maine. She earned her chemical engineering degree from the University of Maine and worked for two years in engineering. As much as she tried to forget about her dreams to be doctor, she couldn't. She eventually attended the University of Vermont Collage of Medicine. She went from wanting to be a orthopedic surgeon to a pathologist before she realized how much she loved OB/GYN.

In Danielle's spare time she and her new husband love to do anything outside. Her summers are filled with waterskiing, hiking, rock climbing, biking, and running. She spends her winters skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and making snow angels.

Dr. Amy Kohlmeier

Amy Kohlmeier, MD - House Officer 2
Email: kohlmeam@trinity-health.org

Amy was born and raised in Sarnia, ON, eh! She attended University of Notre Dame for undergrad where she ran cross country and track and field and studied Science Preprofessional. After undergrad, she went to Saba University School of Medicine on the tiny, 5 square mile island of Saba. Amy always knew OB/Gyn was what she wanted to do but her 3rd year core and 4th year elective just confirmed this.

In her free time, Amy enjoys being active and still tries to run every day, swim, snowboard and workout. She LOVES to shop and sometimes feels as though she missed her calling as a personal shopper =). Amy is so happy she matched somewhere close to home because she plans to go back as much as possible to spend time with family and friends.

Dr. Mariko Shelton

Mariko Shelton, MD - House Officer 2
