What We Do
Chelsea Community Hospital offers various treatment options for patients dealing with non-healing wounds. The wounds may be caused by injury or excess pressure during times of immobility, and may not heal rapidly for a variety of reasons:
- Poor circulation because of vascular disease, diabetes, obesity, or smoking
- Poor nutrition
- Advancing age
- Infection
- Using inappropriate dressings or topicals
Treatments offered include:
- Comprehensive evaluation
- Sharp debridement
- Photo documentation
- Whirlpool
- Recommendations on appropriate dressings
- Edema control
- Patient and family education for care in the home environment
Who is eligible?
To receive treatment, you must first be evaluated and diagnosed by your physician. You will receive a prescription for a physical therapist to evaluate you and customize a program of exercises to address your specific needs.
