Family members and friends are welcome to visit. For your convenience, our general visiting hours are 1 - 8 p.m. However, in the interest of patient care, special visiting hours are in place in the following hospital areas. Please obtain a visiting card from the unit's nursing desk:
- Special Care (Intensive Care/ICU, Cardiac Care/MCU)
- Mental Health
- Chemical Dependency
- Birthing Center (see visiting hours)
Patient care is our primary concern. Following are general guidelines for visitors:
Please limit visitors to two at a time. Waiting lounges are available on each floor, and comfortable seating is also available in the hospital lobbies.
Please do not leave children unsupervised.
Please ask your visitors to use the north entrance off Five Mile Road. Special Care Unit visitors may use the Marian Professional Building (South) entrance off Levan Road.
After-hours visitors are requested to use the Emergency Center entrance off Levan Road. Security Staff is available to assist visitors, if requested.
Ample free parking is available at St. Mary Mercy Hospital. Visitors may park in the north or south parking lots. Short term parking for patient discharge is available at the north entrance circular drive. Handicapped parking is located near the north and south entrances. If you need assistance, please ask Security or Information Desk personnel or dial ext. 8600.
Tobacco products and their use are not permitted in any indoor or outdoor locations of St. Mary Mercy Hospital property, including the Marian Professional Building and parking lots. Please be prepared to not smoke or use tobacco products while you are on St. Mary Mercy property. Please bring gum or some other way to help you get through your visit without nicotine.
Visitors and family members can enjoy a cup of coffee, deli sandwich, fresh baked goods or a full meal in the hospital cafeteria. The hospital cafeteria, located at the northwest side of the hospital near the Five Mile Road entrance, is open 6:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. A coffee cart is available in the South Lobby for your convenience.
Vending machines are available in most visitor waiting rooms, the Overflow Cafeteria and in the Emergency Center.
The hospital Chapel is located on the first floor, at the west side of the hospital. The Chapel is available to everyone, and open 24 hours a day. Liturgies are scheduled on a regular basis. For information on scheduled services, please call ext. 3479.
Gift Shop and Outpatient Pharmacy
The Gift Shop and Outpatient Pharmacy is located in the corridor between the North and South Lobby. Fresh flowers, plants, jewelry, cards and gifts are available in the Gift Shop. (Please note that flowers and plants are not allowed in the Intensive Care Unit.) It also offers refreshments and snacks.
Gift Shop hours are Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information, please call 734-655-2481.
The Outpatient Pharmacy is conveniently located inside the Gift Shop. It stocks hard-to-find prescriptions and accepts most insurance plans. call 734-655-2325 for more information.
Guest Wireless Internet Service (Wi-Fi)
Wireless Internet access is available to our guests and physicians in designated areas. To access the network, you need a laptop or a PDA equipped with a Wi-Fi compliant 802.11b/g wireless Ethernet card and a standard web browser.
For your convenience, a Money Machine is located just inside the Marian Professional Building (South) entrance. Change machines are also available at the North (Five Mile Road) and South Lobbies.
There are specially designated lounges for visitors on each patient floor and in the lobbies. Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the Special Care Unit, Emergency Center, and Surgery. During certain hours, hospital volunteers are on duty in the Emergency Center and Surgery waiting rooms to help keep family members informed about the patient's progress.
Pay Phones, TDDs and Cellular Phones
Pay phones are located in the lobbies and near the lounges or elevators on each patient floor. Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf (TDDs) are located at the pay phone near the North Lobby (Five Mile Road) and in the Emergency Center. A portable TDD unit is available by calling the Help Desk, ext. 4357. Cellular phones may be used throughout the hospital, with possible limited use in patient care areas as determined by the nursing staff.
