Welcome Letter from Director, Edward J. Kakish, DO
Emergency Medicine is a competitive field where both accuracy and speed are of consequence. Adaptability and decisiveness are necessary traits to be successful. A remarkable residency will teach or refine these qualities until they blend smoothly with evidence-based practice and compassionate care. We believe emergency medicine is best learned in the Emergency Department.
We have a unique curriculum that starts with the broad based knowledge necessary, advances to specialty knowledge, then leadership and academic skills. We have standing rotations at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor and Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. All residents are required to perform clinical research.
Challenges and rewards... we look forward to discussing the possibilities with you.
