St. Mary Mercy Hospital has opened a new primary care practice as part of the St. Mary Mercy Medical Group effective May 1 at Heritage Commons, 14600 Farmington Road, Suite 105, Livonia, phone number 734-655-8200, with four physicians board-certified in internal medicine and family medicine: Richard Mark, DO, Jaclyn Randel, MD, George Sawabini, DO, and Hetal Gandhi, MD.
The St. Mary Mercy Medical Group kicks off the development of a larger Primary Care Network with additional physicians coming on board in the near future. With the passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, it has been estimated that 29 million people will become covered by mandatory health insurance by 2014. In addition to covering the previously uninsured, population growth and an aging population are driving reasons for improved patient access to primary care.
“With an anticipated future demand for these services, we are developing our primary care network to meet the need,” said Dave Spivey, President and CEO, St. Mary Mercy Hospital.
Each physician with the St. Mary Mercy Medical Group utilizes their expertise and diverse specialties to treat a variety of conditions affecting patients ranging from infants to seniors. Services include sports physicals, women’s wellness, pediatrics and adolescent health care, acupuncture, diabetes, heart disease, cholesterol management and other age-appropriate health screenings.
