St. Mary Mercy Hospital Welcomes New Directors, Physicians
Michael M. Gatt, MD, has been named as Medical Director, Ambulatory Network. In this role, Dr. Gatt will serve as the physician leader for the St. Mary Mercy Medical Group, a newly developed network consisting of multispecialty and primary care physicians. Dr. Gatt, who has been on the St. Mary Mercy Medical Staff since 1994, previously served as chair for the Department of Maternal and Child Services. He will remain clinically active with Westside Obstetrics and Gynecology, a St. Mary Mercy practice with offices in Canton and Livonia. Dr. Gatt received his medical degree from Michigan State University. He completed his residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers.
Rick Ricardi, RN, BSN, has been named Director, Trauma Services. As director, he will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the new Trauma Program at St. Mary Mercy. Ricardi has over 10 years of experience in trauma services in large healthcare institutions. He was most recently the Trauma Program Manager at Genesys Health System in Grand Blanc, MI. Ricardi received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Canyon College, Carmichael, CA, and holds certifications in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum, Basic Cardiac Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
William Cardasis, MD, was recently named Program Director, Psychiatry Residency, Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Cardasis received his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He completed his psychiatric residency at University of MI higan Hospitals. Dr. Cardasis comes from the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ann Arbor, and he has been an active member of the St. Mary Mercy Medical Staff since 1996. Dr. Cardasis is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry.
Miles L. Singer, DO, Orthopedic Surgery, recently joined St. Mary Mercy Hospital as a spine surgeon.
Dr. Singer received his medical degree from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed a residency at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI, and a spinal surgery fellowship at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Ill. Dr. Singer is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Singer’s practice, Specialists in Spine Surgery, can be reached at 248-926-1960. John J. O’Brien, MD, who was recently named as Physician Director, Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official at St. Mary Mercy Hospital, continues to practice gastroenterology at St. Mary Mercy Hospital. His office is located at the Marian Professional Center, 14555 Levan Rd., Suite 407, phone number 734-655-3045. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received his medical degree from University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Mo. He completed residency at University of Missouri St. Luke’s Hospital; and gastroenterology fellowships at St. Louis University School of Medicine, University of Kentucky School of Medicine and John Hopkins Hospital. In addition, he served as an inflammatory bowel disease research associate at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
