Women's Health Presentation Series Hosted By St. Mary Mercy Hospital Livonia

Paul Makela, MD, Medical Director of Gynecological Robotic Surgery at St. Mary Mercy Hospital Livonia will deliver a series of presentations on women's health beginning in August. Each month, Dr. Makela will provide insight and education on specific women's health conditions, including pelvic pain, bladder dysfunction and pelvic prolapse. He will discuss overall pelvic health, help attendees recognize symptoms, understand diagnoses and introduce treatment options. Bring your friend, sister or mother. Each presentation is open to the public and free of charge.

All presentations are from 6 to 7 p.m. Dates, topics and locations include:

"Approximately one-third of women will experience a pelvic-related health condition by age 60," said Dr. Makela. "Muscles that support pelvic organs are commonly weakened or stretched by pregnancy, childbirth or excess weight. My goal is to help women understand these special health conditions and offer support."
