When you are ready for your operation, a nurse will take you to the operating room. Once there you will be asked to move onto a narrow bed. A nurse will put a seat belt across you for safety. Blankets are available for your comfort.
Routine monitors include a blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, electrocardiogram (EKG) and BIS monitor. These monitors are placed to measure blood pressure, oxygen level, heart rate and rhythm and depth of anesthesia in order to prevent anesthesia awareness. All patients are monitored very closely during their operations.
