St. Joseph Mercy Oakland’s Healthy Start/Healthy Families Oakland Hosts Free ‘Conscious Fathering’ Workshops
Program Teaches New Fathers How to Be Better Fathers and Partners in Baby’s Care
Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland’s (SJMO) Healthy Start/Healthy Families Oakland program will offer a series of free workshops for new or expectant fathers.
Called Conscious Fathering, the program is designed to give new or expectant fathers the tools they need to be great fathers and real partners in caring for their babies.
Participants learn the five basic needs of the baby, helpful tips for navigating the changes in a couple’s relationship that come with the arrival of a new baby and more.
The next two-hour workshop will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, in the Avci Room in the Franco Communications Center on the St. Joseph Mercy Oakland campus, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac. Subsequent workshops will be held May 19 and June 16.
Conscious Fathering workshops for Spanish speakers will be held at 6 p.m. April 7, May 5 and June 2 at La Casa Amiga of Catholic Social Services of Oakland County’s Hispanic Outreach, 76 Williams St., Pontiac.
Participants will receive a free DVD entitled, “Happiest Baby on the Block,” and learn the latest techniques for calming babies.
