Program Celebrates Father's Day and Contribution of Fathers to Children, Families and Community
Pontiac, Mich.- St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO)'s Healthy Start/Healthy Families Oakland will have a program in celebration of Father's Day and recognizing the contributions of fathers to their children, families and community at noon Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in the Franco Communications Center of the hospital, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac.
Guest speaker will be Ron J. Clark, Director of National Programming for the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI). Clark will speak on "Good Dads Make a Difference...Also Bad Ones." Clark is a consultant, author and conference presenter on fatherhood, adolescent male, child welfare, child support and family service issues. He holds an MA degree in Public Policy and MBA Executive Education Certificate. He has served as director of the nationally recognized Virginia Governor's Fatherhood Campaign for nearly a decade. In his current role, he is the lead fatherhood consultant to several federal government and private foundation-sponsored initiatives that seek to improve social, economic and health outcomes of children through father involvement. Moreover, he leads a strategic nationwide effort to increase the capacity of local, state and national family service leaders to provide effective and efficient services to fathers and families.
Clark has published numerous articles, served as consultant to professional publications and has received committee appointments and awards for his work.
A light luncheon will be served from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Admission to the program is free of charge. The public is invited.
