Art Exhibit Highlight Hospital Celebration
ST. JOSEPH MERCY OAKLAND EDUCATIONAL SESSION, ART EXHIBIT HIGHLIGHT HOSPITAL CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Public Invited to Free Event Entitled, 'Caring for Yourself—Body, Mind and Spirit'
Pontiac, Mich. - St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will commemorate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October with several free activities, including an educational presentation and an art exhibit.
"Caring for Yourself—Body, Mind and Spirit" will be presented from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 in the hospital's Franco Communications Center, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac, Mich. The special celebration will be an educational and inspirational evening for current breast cancer patients, survivors, family members, friends, anyone who has been touched by breast cancer and those who want to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Well Breast Care – Judie Goodman, DO
Risks and Genetics – Amy Kirby, MD
Integrative Medicine – Harsha P. Jayatilake, MD
Coping Skills for Breast Cancer – Sue Yun, RN, MA
The evening also will include hors d'oeuvres and desserts; an inspirational dance performance by The Zone Dance Center, Southfield; recognition of cancer survivors and an exhibition of the Lilly Oncology on Canvas Art Exhibit. The art exhibit will continue Oct. 21 through 28 within the hospital and in the Alice Gustafson Center lobby on the hospital campus. This national traveling exhibit features inspirational art created by cancer patients, their family members and their caregivers.
