St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Offers Limited Number of Free Mammograms
Open to Oakland County Residents Who Are Uninsured or Underinsured
Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) has openings for a limited number of free screening mammograms to women who meet the following criteria:
reside in Oakland County
have no health insurance or are underinsured
need a mammogram
are age 40 or older or have a palpable mass (one that can be felt)
The hospital has established two special Breast Cancer Screening Clinics. Both will be held in the Alice Gustafson Ambulatory Surgery Center on the hospital campus, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac.
A free mammogram screening clinic will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 27.
This clinic requires that a woman bring a physician’s order for a mammogram with her.
The other free screening clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14. This clinic does not require a physician’s order.
Pre-registration is required for either clinic. The limited number of appointments for both free mammogram screening clinics will be filled on a first call, first served basis. For an appointment, call 800-372-6094. Appointments will be taken until all slots are filled.
This Breast Cancer Screening Clinic is supported in part by the Pink Ribbon Trailblazers, a grass-roots community fundraising group that provides funding for mammograms for underserved women in Oakland County.
