St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Sleep Disorders Center Hosts Meeting On Sleep Apnea Awareness
Group Provides Support for Individuals Affected by Sleep Disordered Breathing
Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland’s (SJMO) Sleep Disorders Center will have a meeting of its sleep apnea awareness group 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the Baber and Avci conference rooms in the Franco Center. The group is a chapter of the American Sleep Apnea Association A.W.A.K.E Network.
The group provides support through education, sharing of ideas and discussions about common obstacles of treatment among persons who are affected by sleep disordered breathing.
Dr. Paul Hoff of Michigan Otolaryngology Surgery Associates will speak on robotic surgery treatments for sleep apnea. Affiliated with St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor (SJMAA), Dr. Hoff specializes in Otolaryngology. He earned his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his residency and internship at the University of Michigan Hospital and Health Centers. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Hoff is a teaching faculty member of the SJMAA Graduate Medical Education Program, and an affiliated faculty member of the University of Michigan Department of Otolaryngology. Dr. Hoff is section head of the SJMAA Department of Otolaryngology and a member of the Board of Directors of the SJMAA Specialty Leadership Alliance. Dr. Hoff was named as a Top Doctor by the editors of Consumer’s Checkbook magazine and as a Top Doc by Hour Detroit magazine.
Tom Baker of ResMed (manufacturer of CPAP equipment) will demonstrate new treatment technology and CPAP masks. A representative from Wright and Filippis (durable medical equipment company) and a respiratory therapist also will be on hand.
