St. Joseph Mercy Oakland to Host Celebration of Black History Month
Celebration Focuses on African American Health
Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will host a celebration of Black History Month 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the hospital's Franco Auditorium, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac.
Entitled, "What Happens in This House: African American Health," the program will focus on the body, mind and spirit and feature speakers who specialize in physical and mental health and wellness. Speakers and their topics include:
Joy D. Calloway, MBA, MHSA, President and Chief executive Officer, New Center Community Services, "Mind: Changing Your Mind about Mental Health."
Kimberli Boyd, Wellness Practitioner, Master Teaching Artist and Educational Consultant, specializing in arts integration, " Body: Your Body as Your Temple," and
Toni Flowers-Jefferson, SJMO Associate Vice President-Experience, Diversity and Inclusion, "Spirit: Free to Be."
Light refreshments will follow the celebration. The public is invited free of charge.
