2010 Mercy-Chafty Memorial Gof Outing Raises $47,000 to Support Programs
Port Huron, MI…The St. Joseph Mercy Foundation is pleased to announce that the Thirtieth Annual Mercy ~ Chafty Memorial Golf Outing raised nearly $47,000 to support local health care programs.
Through the support of community members and an outstanding Mercy ~ Chafty Memorial Golf Committee, monies raised from this year’s event will go to financially support the Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health, which provides free medical care and services to St. Clair County residents 18 to 64 years of age, who lack health insurance and the financial resources to pay for their care.
The Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health is cosponsored by the St. Clair County Medical Society and St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron, a not-for-profit, community-based hospital; and is funded in part by the United Way of St. Clair County. Each year, the clinic provides for more than 3,000 patient visits and is staffed by community and physician volunteers. As the community continues to experience economic decline, more and more residents seek the support of the Peoples’ Clinic to meet basic health care needs.
In addition to the clinic, funds raised through the event are also used to benefit the Mercy Regional Cancer Center. The expense of providing state of the art cancer care and treatment requires constant financial reinvestment. These monies will be used to support the types of treatment patients expect and need from a quality cancer program. As a not-for-profit community hospital, St. Joseph Mercy is dedicated to improving the health of the Blue Water and Thumb Area by reinvesting profits back into the community through new technologies, vital health services and access for all.
Held in August 2010, St. Joseph Mercy Foundation would like to extend its gratitude to those sponsors that made the event such a success. Top sponsors include:
