Article
Port Huron, MI…Anil Patel, MD, was named the February 2011 St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month. The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month award highlights a physician’s commitment to working collaboratively to promote patient and community health through clinical excellence and patient-focused care. Physicians honored with this award must also be one whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to family and friends in the community.

As an Internal Medicine physician Dr. Patel specializes in the primary care and treatment of adults. He was nominated for his focus on the individual needs of each patient and his/her family as well as his diligent attention to his patients’ unique conditions that often require commitment above and beyond the expected.

“For many years, Dr. Patel has been the primary care physician for a member of my family. During that time he has offered outstanding care and commitment,” comments his nominator. “He diligently worked with local medical providers and clinical care staff to ensure that his patient received the quality of care needed and championed that care be provided in the environment of his choosing. Dr. Patel continually goes above what is expected. He demonstrates a genuine care, personal concern and respect for patients and their families. Dr. Patel has provided outstanding care to my family members and I wouldn’t hesitate to refer him to others. Beyond the great personal attention he provides, his clinical expertise is truly outstanding. He puts his patients first and takes their needs into consideration often at the expense of his own.”

“Dr. Patel is a terrific asset to our health care community,” states Peter Karadjoff, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) President and CEO. “His outstanding performance has been noted by those who work most closely with him and has been highlighted through his nomination. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Patel for elevating the health status of our community and being a physician whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to their family and friends.”

“It is an honor to receive this award,” comments Anil Patel, MD. “It wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful support of my colleagues and the clinical staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.”

The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month is designed to highlight outstanding collaboration between our physician community and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital patient care and volunteer staff. Nominations are accepted from all staff and volunteers, and are blinded and reviewed by a Nominations Review Committee. The award is presented monthly to a physician on staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
