JOHN PELACHYK, MD, NAMED ST. JOSEPH MERCY
PATIENT-FOCUSED PHYSICIAN OF THE MONTH

Port Huron, MI...John Pelachyk, MD, was named the June 2011 St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month. The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month award highlights a physician's commitment to working collaboratively to promote patient and community health through clinical excellence and patient-focused care. Physicians honored with this award must also be one whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to family and friends in the community.

As a dermatologist with Blue Water Dermatology, Dr. Pelachyk provides care and treatment to individuals with diseases and conditions of the skin. He was nominated for his unselfish commitment to the community during the 2011 FREE Skin Cancer Screening, hosted by St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
"Dr. Pelachyk volunteered for the Mercy Regional Cancer Center skin cancer screening and he alone provided service to patients the entire morning of the event. Although there were many community residents waiting, the patient flow went smoothly because Dr. Pelachyk moved from exam room to exam room in a pleasant and professional manner. Dr. Pelachyk was only scheduled for the morning hours, but he continued to see patients past his allotted time, even though he had to miss a previously scheduled commitment. Dr. Pelachyk's dedication to the event ensured its success. I would recommend Dr. Pelachyk because he takes his time, is pleasant, professional and enjoyable to every patient."

"Dr. Pelachyk is a terrific asset to our health care community," states Peter Karadjoff, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) President and CEO. "His outstanding performance has been noted by those who work most closely with him and has been highlighted through his nomination. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Pelachyk for elevating the health status of our community through his work and dedication to the patients at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital."

"I am both honored to have received this recognition, and grateful for the opportunity to care for patients in our community," comments John Pelachyk, MD. "Thank you for including me among the many fine physicians chosen to receive this award."

The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month is designed to highlight outstanding collaboration between our physician community and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital patient care and volunteer staff. Nominations are accepted from all staff and volunteers, and are blinded and reviewed by a Nominations Review Committee. The award is presented monthly to a physician on staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
