Pink Ribbon Golf Outing Benefits Women in Need
Start Date

Port Huron, MI...Celebrating 16 years of providing educational resources, information and an opportunity to support local women in need, St. Joseph Mercy Foundation is pleased to announce that it raised $19,628 during the Mercy Pink Ribbon Ladies' Day, held at Fore Lakes Golf Club on June 23, 2011.

On a rainy morning, only the ducks could love, more than 140 local women and a number of women-focused product vendors spent the day supporting the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund. The fund is designed to provide financial support for advanced breast cancer diagnoses to women in the community who lack health insurance and the financial resources to pay for their care.

"We are extremely pleased with the results of this year's event," comments Wendy Palmateer, of Golf Country, and Chair of the Mercy Pink Ribbon Ladies' Day Committee. "With outstanding community support we were once again able to raise funding to support women in need."

"This event continues to gain popularity with women across the region and results in a golf course full of women in focus, supporting women in need," concludes Palmateer. "Appreciation and congratulations are extended to everyone who supported the event."

In addition to the nine-hole golf scramble, participants enjoyed a continental breakfast, lunch and access to women's product vendors.

Many teams also participated in the Cart Decorating and Spirit Award competitions, where teams decorate their golf carts and don special attire, all in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness.
