2011 Mercy-Chafty Memorial Golf Outing Meets Fundraising Goal
Port Huron, MI...St. Joseph Mercy Foundation is pleased to announce that the 31st Annual Mercy ~ Chafty Memorial Golf Outing raised slightly more than $51,000 to support local health care programs.
Through the support of community members and an outstanding Mercy ~ Chafty Memorial Golf Committee, monies raised will go to financially support the Peoples' Clinic for Better Health, which provides free medical care and services to St. Clair County residents 18 to 64 years of age, who lack health insurance and the financial resources to pay for their care.
The Peoples' Clinic for Better Health is cosponsored by the St. Clair County Medical Society and St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron, a not-for-profit, community-based hospital; and is funded in part by the United Way of St. Clair County. Each year, the clinic provides for more than 4,000 patient visits and is staffed by community and physician volunteers.
In addition to the clinic, funds raised through the event are also used to benefit the Mercy Regional Cancer Center. The expense of providing state of the art cancer care and treatment requires constant financial reinvestment. These monies will be used to support the types of treatment patients expect and need from a quality cancer program.
As a not-for-profit community hospital, St. Joseph Mercy is dedicated to improving the health of the Blue Water and Thumb Areas by reinvesting profits back into the community through new technologies, vital health services and access for all.
