St. Joseph Mercy Names 2011 Associate of the Year
Start Date

Port Huron, MI…Nominated for her commitment in providing support to various hospital departments, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron is pleased to announce that Frances Parrish, RN, Director of Nursing Excellence, has been named the 2011 Associate of the Year. Parrish of Port Huron Township has been a St. Joseph Mercy employee since 1990.

The St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron Associate of the Year program is an employee recognition program that is held each year in September, during Mercy Week, an annual celebration of the heritage of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

During the celebration 11 associates, who have all been designated as an Associate of the Month, are considered for the annual award by fellow hospital staff, with the winner announced during the Associate of the Year Tea.

Parrish felt both honored and humbled to be chosen for the award by her peers at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. “My desire to serve our patients and my fellow associates is in alignment with our organization’s mission statement: to heal body, mind and spirit,” commented Fran Parrish about the award. “In today’s world, it’s rare to find an employer that encourages staff to sit with patients, and their family or even fellow associates to help them meet their spiritual as well as their physical needs. That is what has made St. Joseph Mercy so special and precious to me throughout my career. Our mission statement is not just a bunch of words on paper; we’re dedicated to living out our mission each and every day.”

Parrish was nominated for her willingness to share her time and talents across multiple departments of the hospital. “Staff of different departments appreciate Fran’s commitment to the entire hospital even though she now serves in a quality and regulatory role as Director of Nursing Excellence. We can call her at any time to ask for help,” comments her nominator. “Fran is a hard working, honest, helpful and supportive professional and we cannot thank her enough for her dedication to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.”
