Port Huron, MI…Eric Hartman, MD, was named the November 2011 St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month. The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month award highlights a physician’s commitment to working collaboratively to promote patient and community health through clinical excellence and patient-focused care. Physicians honored with this award must also be one whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to family and friends in the community.

An obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Hartman provides care and treatment to patients through Blue Water OB/GYN. He was nominated for his commitment to timely meeting the needs of patients while keeping them well informed.

“Dr. Hartman always treats his staff with respect, kindness and courtesy,” comments his nominator. “His commitment to being courteous to others follows through in his treatment of his patients. When patients visit Dr. Hartman, he always greets them and lets them know if he will be delayed in seeing them. He makes the visit personal and shows his respect for others' time and schedules. He makes it a point to follow through with his time promises. Dr. Hartman has been my physician for 15 years and I have and will continue to recommend him to friends and family. He takes his time with his patients, answers all questions and provides all information in a kind and compassionate way. He is a true gentleman.”

“Dr. Hartman is a terrific asset to our health care community,” states Peter Karadjoff, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) President and CEO. “His outstanding performance has been noted by those who work most closely with him and has been highlighted through his nomination. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Hartman for elevating the health status of our community.”

“It is an honor to accept this award,” comments Eric Hartman, MD. “I have always tried to make patient care my first priority and the staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital makes that possible.”

The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month is designed to highlight outstanding collaboration between our physician community and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital patient care and volunteer staff. Nominations are accepted from all staff and volunteers, and are blinded and reviewed by a Nominations Review Committee. The award is presented monthly to a physician on staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
