ST. JOSEPH MERCY PORT HURON NAMES 2013 ASSOCIATE OF THE YEAR
Port Huron, MI…Nominated for her commitment to provide superior care to prevent patient infection, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron is pleased to announce that Amanda Whymer, RN, Infection Prevention Coordinator, has been named the 2013 Associate of the Year. Whymer of Port Huron has been a St. Joseph Mercy employee since 2006.
The St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron Associate of the Year program is an employee recognition program held each year in September, during Mercy Week, an annual celebration of the heritage of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
During the celebration, 11 associates, who have been designated as an Associate of the Month, are considered for the annual award by fellow hospital staff, with the winner announced during the Associate of the Year Tea.
“It is truly an honor just to be nominated for such an award,” commented Amanda Whymer. “My colleagues and I work hard every day to ensure safety for the patients, visitors and associates. I am humbled that my co-workers selected me for Associate of the Year.”
Whymer was nominated for her dedication to infection prevention and educating other hospital staff about infection prevention. “She is committed to providing the best care for our patients to prevent infections,” commented her nominator. “She is also committed to staff, physicians and patients to ensure quality patient outcomes. She makes sure that all associates are educated on the best way to protect themselves in the environment they work in.”
