Renovating Patient Rooms
Making the majority of the Hospital’s patient rooms private will promote patient and family-centered care while addressing present-day needs and technology trends of the future.  Phase II of the Campaign includes renovating patient rooms located in the north-end patient units. 

  • 90 patient rooms converted from semi-private to private
  • Welcoming environment for family and visitors
  • Updated décor with new flooring and furniture, wood finishes, soft colors and fine art to promote a healing environment
  • Space for technologically advanced medical equipment
  • Dedicated space for clinical staff to provide patient care and perform in-room treatments
  • Direct access from inpatient rooms to surgery, emergency and other key areas within the hospital
  • Nursing work areas conveniently located to keep patient care closer to the bedside
  • Designed for computerized medical record technology and wireless technology capabilities

Developing the Wellness Center
The new Wellness Center will house the Integrative Medicine Program and Senior Assessment and Resource Institute (SARI) in a renovated area that was formerly the Hospital’s Emergency Center.

Senior Assessment and Resource Institute (SARI)
St. Mary Mercy Livonia is a recognized pioneer in senior care through the highly successful Senior ER – the first in Michigan – and recent certification as a NICHE organization. SARI complements our commitment to excellence in the care of seniors.

  • Comprehensive geriatric assessments for patients 65 years and older, as well as the addition of senior-specific community resources located on site at St. Mary Mercy Livonia 
  • A spa-like reception area; 2 traditional patient exams rooms; 3 conference rooms for patient assessment;
  • Dedicated space for Senior Alliance
  • Classrooms for community outreach, support groups and fitness classes geared for seniors; a resource library; and proximity to the Hospital café
  • Comprehensive multi-visit assessment at the first visit:
    • Social Work assessment (including emotional, functional, support system and caregiver stress screenings)
    • A physical exam by the physician
    • Cognitive, nutrition, sleep, and urological screenings
    • Medication review
    • Balance and mobility assessments by physical and occupational therapists
  • Follow-up visit:
    • Consultation with a multidisciplinary clinical team with the patient and family
    • Review of findings and treatment recommendations
    • Development of a care plan
    • A personalized resource packet prepared by the Senior Alliance resource professional

Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM)
St. Mary Mercy Livonia is dedicated to the healing of body, mind and spirit, and the CIM creates an opportunity to directly touch the lives of our patients in ways that further this vision by offering services to supplement the primary care and clinical services we already provide.

  • Integrative therapies, including acupuncture, massage, yoga, and meditation
  • Supervised by dual board certified Family Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine physician
  • Spa-like reception area, retail space, traditional patient exams rooms, conference rooms for patient assessment, a dedicated massage room, and a dedicated fitness space for community outreach and fitness classes
  • CIM allows St. Mary Mercy Livonia to reach:
    • Patients who favor integrative and alternative therapies
    • Patients facing significant illness, such as oncology and surgery patients, who would benefit from therapies that strengthen the mind and spirit and help prepare for the challenging physical journey to health
    • Patients interested in stress-reducing techniques and therapies
