St. Mary Mercy Hospital was the first hospital in Michigan to open a Senior Emergency Department and the first of eight locations in Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. St. Mary Mercy is a NICHE designated hospital, which focuses on nursing care specific to the senior population that benefits hospitalized older patients (NICHE stands for Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders).
