Vascular Medicine Clinic

Our vascular physicians are uniquely prepared to provide patients with leading-edge care for vascular diseases and related symptoms. Our team utilizes the most advanced technology and equipment to provide diagnosis and treatments for many vascular diseases. Our specialists offer a full range of non-surgical interventional services. In addition, we offer advanced preventive care, patient education, and access to clinical trials.

We work closely with vascular surgeons, radiologists, neurologists, nephrologists, endocrinologists, and podiatrists to ensure that each patient receives the best possible care. Michigan Heart physicians are recognized for creating excellent partnerships with referring physicians. We communicate throughout the care of the patient and, after returning the patient to the care of the referring physician, can provide disease management upon request.

Risk Factors for Peripheral Arterial Disease

There are multiple risk factors for PAD Including:

  • Age: PAD increases with age and affects approximately 20% of the U.S. population over age 70. PAD is often undiagnosed in the elderly.
  • Smoking: Smokers have three times the rate of PAD as non-smokers.
  • Diabetes: Various studies indicate 20-50% of diabetics have PAD.
  • Coronary Artery Disease: An estimated 40% of patients with CAD also have PAD.
