Mental Health Unit
The Mental Health Unit staff provides care to individuals requiring short-term psychiatric care. Personalized treatment is coordinated by a psychiatrist on staff at St. Mary Mercy Hospital. Through a structured plan of individual counseling, group therapy, activities and family support, patients are given the opportunity to develop and improve their social, physical and emotional skills. The overall treatment goal is the restoration of the individual to their highest level of function within the family and community.
Admission to the unit is voluntary. The unit’s environment provides opportunities to reflect upon and strengthen emotional energies and prepares the patient to resume a balanced, healthy life.
Chemical Dependency Treatment
St. Mary Mercy Hospital provides both inpatient and outpatient chemical dependency programs. They include individual and group counseling and treatment for alcoholism, drug addiction and related emotional difficulties.
A 10-bed inpatient Chemical Dependency Unit is available for patients requiring a more structured program than outpatient treatment can offer. Upon completion of inpatient care, outpatient follow-up is offered.
St. Mary Mercy also makes extensive use of support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon Family Groups, Women for Sobriety and Narcotics Anonymous.
